Short of job seekers, long on jobs, the lives of a further 6 people were changed today as they entered the workforce (2 for the first time). Previous blog posts have spoken to the need for new job seekers and the increased and improving demand for NOVA's assistance in placing people who have a disability into what is referred to in the trade as 'open employment' - that's a job just like everyone else, same pay and conditions, same expectations and responsibilities, same rights.
These 6 new workers are participating in a wide range of jobs, certainly not simply at an entry level (unless you include starting an Apprenticeship under that category).
In the past our results have sometimes been patchy with demand for labour ebbing and flowing and varying between the Western and South Western suburbs, between the Mountains and Sth Sydney and so on.
Not now! I attended the launch of NOVA's 100 jobs in 100 days at Cronulla Leagues Club (quick thank you to the Cronulla team and the Sharks lads for their support, then traveled back to St Marys - jobs galore!
This month will, in all likelihood, mark the 13th month out of 14 months where we have set new 'best yet' records.
Where's the interest coming from? Business of all types, size and needs - highly skilled work, trade opportunities, manual labour - right across the board smart business owners and HR professionals are not just hiring a person for their team, they are returning for 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 15th worker!
Before concluding I should also make mention of the part the skill of my staff has played in enabling these job opportunities - I could not be more proud of the selfless dedication shown by so many committed and professional employees. I'm sure they make mistakes, forget to whatever, meant to .... and tomorrow morning 6 more people will wake up and know that their chance to contribute to our great country as taxpayers is now theirs.
