Well, the tender results are out and NOVA is significantly reduced in size - losing 10 out of 26 sites..
The funding body (DEEWR) have cleverly set up providers that question their decision as "Poor performers' under their Star Rating system (see the legion of blog posts on this site going back years).
Here's the results (in part)
Some 60 providers are no more. Goodbye to first class programs like those offered by Choice Solutions at Blacktown - a client focused disability service that has been supporting people with genuine disability for about 20 years.
Half of all registered job seekers must change providers.
11 of the 14 Autism specialists gone. Virtually all specialist areas are reduced.
I haven't mentioned NOVA - this (the above) is insanity.
Job seekers with a history with providers going back decades are to be told, 'here's your new provider' - Guess what? They won't understand.
Government has abandoned people with disability.
The process is and will be the worst disaster ever inflicted on people with disability.
Our funding body set up a process that offered the biggest rewards to the biggest abusers (incidentally I am collecting examples for 'soon to be publication - please send me any examples you have - I guarantee anonymity) and have attempted to tidy up that mess after the fact
No wonder Australia ranks motherless last on inclusion and employment for people with disability.

Your Comments Peter Smith from Melbourne wrote on 20 Nov 2012 7:13:31 AM The insanity of the process is that it fails to recognise the relationship between client and provider, it's focus is pure neoliberal "workfare" and continues the governments push to fewer providers with local knowledge and more associations of smaller providers. In other words less administrative burden for the government. The reduction in specialist sites flies in the face of the evidence that clearly demonstrates that specialist sites have a greater success rate than generalist sites. There's nothing is this for the clients, only big headlines for the government. Not dissimilar to the NDIS headlines. It might look like a beer with a good head on it, but I suspect that your premium beer might be a non alcoholic and ultimately leave a bad taste. Without the analogy, I'm simply saying our government is good at creating headlines and expectations, but poor on delivering reality.

Don't know about you but I have felt pretty bruised from all the horrible stuff brought upon us by this damn virus - seeing so many folk losing their jobs is particularly awful and the uncertainty generated for everyone, particularly for workers who have a disability is dreadful to see....

NOVA Employment posted another 'best ever' result for the first month of 2020.
Despite the most dreadful natural disasters and with many businesses closed for the holidays, the NOVA team delivered more new workers than in any previous January results, beating past 5 years average by 25% and previous (2017) 'best ever' numbers by 5%....
