It may just be me and does there seem to be a deafening silence on the impending disaster that is DES-ESS?
Here's the funding body message; "Don't fret, we are only going to be rid of a few of you and those that go earned it"
And our response is.......?
I've been doing this (DES, not screaming about contract madness) for 27 years and there's never been a time of greater threat to the employment options for people with disability.
I thought we represented them, not us. There's nothing to be gained by silence and everything to win by protest.

Do the 'Star' Ratings represent good service to people with disability?
We know they don't.
Their application in allocating market share appears to have delivered a 16% drop in outcomes in the present contract
We all know, the funding body knows and the Minister knows the 'Stars' are deeply flawed
The rationalisation madness continues.
Just in case you didn't read the letter; score 1 or 2 stars in the next Stars and your jobs are up for grabs, your clients choices ignored and our industrry skills base further weakened.
What remains of DES-ESS is about to be further destroyed.
Seems to me its fight or fall - can't understand the silence
Guess how many responses (in print) this post received? - 0, none, not a one - on the phone I got 'well done, someone should pseak out' but in public not a whisper.
Here's the deal, when you think something is wrong, when you know it's going to harm vulnerable people, then you say something. You speak out before it's too late and judging by the reports flowing in it is now too late for some great workers and some terrific service providers.
These will be lied about, dishonestly smeared as 'poor performers' when performance is judged not by the recipients of service but by meaningless nonsense that is widely recognised as subject to 'gaming'.
There go programs, there go careers, there goes knowledge, experience and established - this next bits important - chosen relationships, often supported by decades of work with employers and people with disability.
Too late to do much now and that said I will happily post stories from anyone suffering under the debacle that is DES-ESS business reallocation.
Here's an idea!! Lets ask people with disability what they want and who they think best represents their interests - oops that's right we did and it's those choices that are being ignored.

Today marks the first day of a new Disability Employment Service (DES) contract.
There are new players and new rules....
'It's nice to be busy' and 'busy is better than idle' and all of my mum's other sayings about work being good for you, and all of them said; we're drowning!
The administrative burden of a new Disability Employment Service contract (starts July 1st) and the mountains of paperwork required for an NDIS dollar (approximately 10X that of the former TTW program) has seen us add 3 extra staff to the admin team and we are still receiving a large volume of enquiries that are causing us some time delay in getting back to folk....
